The Globe, the Times and the Boston Bombings
I’ve been awestruck by the Boston Marathon bombing coverage in the Boston Globe and New York Times, just as I was by the Times’ coverage of Sandy and the Denver Post’s coverage of Aurora. But I can’t help but wonder: how much longer will the rest of us — and by “us” I mean readers, the broadcast media, the commentariat and the blogosphere — be able...

Here’s a wonderful tribute to the career of former New York Times chairman, CEO and publisher Arthur O. “Punch” Sulzberger. Also make sure to read the his obituary in the Times.
One way to appreciate the Sulzberger’s legacy is to imagine what American journalism would be like if he had failed to staunch the company’s financial losses in the ’60s. Or if he’d caved...

Sara Ganim, a 24-year-old staff writer at the Patriot-News in Harrisburg, Pa., won the Pulitzer Prize for local reporting for her coverage of the Jerry Sandusky child-rape scandal at Penn State. The kid beat everyone to the story.

Carl Crawford is still one of my favorite players in the Majors and I’m fully confident he’ll turn things around in 2012. The guy’s too classy for Sox fans, wish he were still with the Rays.

With my kindergarten kids. Who were born in 2005. In Korea.
They all contributed. Talking about their names, the songs they sang, the reason they broke up, John’s murder…and I didn’t even initiate it. They’ve just gotten really interested in The Beatles since we started rehearsing our graduation song.
These are the times I love my job. I love these kids. I love The Beatles.
Wow.
